Evolve states the case for Passive House at industry events

Our own Patrick Andres, MASc. Building Science, P.Eng., CPCH invited to share Passive House possibilities.

Patrick was  was recent guest speaker to the Ontario Building Envelope Council at their Markham, ON, monthly dinner meetings to present on the state of Passive House in North America.

This well received presentation included details covering the three new certification categories available under the Passive House Institute’s Passive House standard and delved into the rationale behind the Passive House Institute U.S.’s new climate specific passive building standard. The presentation also covered several residential Passive House case studies from across Ontario and described the building envelope strategies used to help attain certification.

Patrick was also one of four guest speakers invited to share innovative building envelope solutions with a packed crowd of architects and specifier’s for the Tremco sponsored “Pushing the Envelope: Innovative Building Envelope Technologies Seminar” (Cambridge,ON). His presentation provided an introduction to Passive House as a standard and design method that can attain superior levels of energy savings. He also previewed some advanced products that designers and builders can implement to reach the rigorous goals of the Passive House standard. He ended off with a showcase of several large-scale buildings from across North America that are aiming for Passive House certification.
